Irish COVID Chart shows that approximately 170 people have lost their lives after the lockdown was lifted. From the end of March to May almost 1,300 deaths were recorded as attributable to COVID 19. .The curve subsided somewhat between May and June adding another 300 COVID victims. This slowdown in the rate of the disease allowed authorities to lift restrictions. Unfortunately since that time we can see 172 additional fatalities. So whilst the chart shows weekly deaths have fallen sharply from about 150 during the peak, to 50 at the time of lockdown, the rate is still unacceptably high trending at about 21 per week. Until a proven vaccine and suitable therapeutics become available the people of Ireland will have to adjust to this new normal.
