First half returns are panning out to be less than spectacular. Relative to the market (FTSE100) however were up 12%. Over the past 8 years of trading we have achieved an average return of 5.41% which is 20% above the FTSE100 return over the same period.

The AliCat Capital Story

AliCat was created 8 years ago. Read The AliCat story so far... To understand this return better it is helpful to factor in to this performance the fact that my first trading was a particularly weak one, loosing near 40%, (Although on a very small capital base) and the fact that I broke even in year two and have applied learning to the system. Each year the figures paint a different picture, and I'll update that here.

Together we Can Succeed..

I was keen to observe the period since the 2008. This period has been incredibly turbulent in the markets, and the economy has not yet fully recovered from the 2008 financial crisis. It is against this context that the fund has massively outperformed the market, yielding above 15% Return on Average Capital Employed in this period, compared to a 0.69% for the Market as a whole. This represents a staggering relative out-performance of more than 2000%. Now that's worth shouting about.

When I consider how many businesses and investors accept a less than 0.5% return on their cash sitting idle in bank accounts I am flabbergasted. There has to be a better way, which is why we're here. We provide these facts to enable you to better gauge how the fund is doing, how it actually works, and of course whether you believe it is the right investment vehicle for you.

All good investors know that it is necessary to take a long term view when looking at stock market returns and that it is often pointless to look at any one year in isolation when assessing performance.
